When Jack Dorsey changed his title at Block from CEO to Block Head in 2022, most assumed it had to do with the company’s continuous growth into blockchain-related products. While that’s probably partially true, the negative connotation of the term definitely leaves much to be desired about the choice. However, it turns out the title is not new. Jack officially labelled himself a Block Rock Beat Head in 2001, both on his blog and on his livejournal.
Jack also listed “block rockin” among his interests in that same year while including the tagline “rocked by the trackcore block” in his signature for a new postcard community he started.
